Bones Season 5 Episode 22 ‘The Beginning in the End’ Recap

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on Bones Season 5 Episode 22 ‘The Beginning in the End’ Recap

Take a few deep breaths. There. I’ll reassure you right now: All series regulars are returning next season. Better?

But one thing is certain: Everything is indeed changing. And based on how the season finale ended, it looks like when the characters reunite and resume their investigations next season, they may not be the exact same characters.

A lot can happen in a year, no?

Forget the case of the week and Angela’s father story line, what we really need to discuss is what may happen to the team next season now that Angela, Hodgins, Booth and Brennan will not be at the Jeffersonian for 12 months!

As soon as I heard Booth and Brennan first confirm that they would be gone for 12 months and then heard Hodgins propose to Angela that they too go away, I expected a time jump to happen between this episode and next season’s premiere. Since I’m always on the lookout for spoilers, I’ve found the confirmation that it would indeed be the case.

Time jump or no time jump, it’s clear that the show’s Powers That Be want to shake things up. For sure, all characters will have changed in these12 months. Here are a few possibilities I think could happen:

– Cam moved in with her gynecologist boyfriend.
– Cam, Sweets, Caroline and various squints of the weeks had to work with a new FBI agent to solve crimes. Maybe Agent Perotta?
– Booth didn’t listen to Brennan’s request and he played hero. Maybe he got a bit injured, but nothing that will prevent him from returning to the FBI.
– Brennan met a lovely male anthropologist that rocked her socks off and brings him back to the Jeffersonian.
– Angela and Hodgins now have a new born baby.
– Daisy returns, ready to resume her relationship with Sweets but he moved on.

I’m excited at this possibility of change. Yes, I love the series as it is right now. However, having the team broken up and experiencing different things will offer new dynamics and different story lines next season. After all, the series will enter its sixth season, so it’s time to shake things up a bit character-wise.

Overall, this was not my favorite season finale. The case of the week was interesting but not that engaging. Since we didn’t hear anything in the past weeks about cast members not returning next season, the Hodgins, Angela, Booth and Brennan going away twist wasn’t that dramatic as it was a given they would all be back eventually. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the finale and the possibilities that it is offering.

Are you fine with the team being broken up for a year? How do you think each character will be changed once the year is up and they reunite? Where do you think each will be? Share your theories and two cents below.

Now we have to wait about four months before knowing for sure that our team will be intact and to see how the time away will have changed them.

‘Bones’ 100th Episode – An Early Look

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on ‘Bones’ 100th Episode – An Early Look

Mark your calendars ‘Bones’ fans, the show will air its 100th episode on April 8! To celebrate this milestone, the cast and crew, as you can see from the picture above, celebrated and the network ensured medias would cover this very special episode by sending a press kit our way.

Shows go out of their way to offer us extra special episodes when they turn milestones such as 100. Can’t wait for April 8 to get the dish on this fantastic episode? Here comes my preview!

I’ve been reading fan comments these past weeks to various posts made about the series’ 100th episode, titled ‘The Parts in the Sum of the Whole,’ and I can tell you expectations are sky high. You’ll be happy to know that the episode delivers the goods. However, the last scene may receive mixed reactions from fans.

The episode takes us back the first case Brennan and Booth’s worked on together; you know, the one way before the case shown in the pilot episode? The duo recount their first case together to Sweets as he made a huge mistake in his book on Booth and Brennan’s partnership.

As expected, the show is mainly set in the past. In the flashbacks, Booth is a young and rebellious FBI agent who still has issues with gambling, Brennan is… Brennan but even with less emotions and compassion, Angela is a street artist who is brought on the case, and Cam is a NY coroner who points Booth in the right direction. As a fan of the buddy relationship Hodgins and Zach had in the past, I particularly liked this episode as it explained how the two came to be a duo and why/how they started to do experiments. Caroline also makes her way in the flashbacks. Sweets remains in the present.

The “past” case of the week is an excuse to tackle the real issue at hand: the feelings Booth and Brennan have or don’t have towards one another. As I was watching the episode, I couldn’t help myself but think what my answer would be to the question “Do I want Booth and Brennan to be a couple at this stage of the series or not?” You’ll have to watch to make your own decision and see what the writers have cooked up for us.

No matter if you are a Booth/Brennan shipper or not, you’ll love this milestone episode as it’s filled with show mythology and brings Zach back to the fold… even if it’s only for an episode.

The 100th episode will air on April 8 so mark your calendars as it is a must-see episode. After it airs, come back to here to read my review and post your comments.

‘Bones’ Digs Up Gravedigger Storyline

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on ‘Bones’ Digs Up Gravedigger Storyline

Back in season 2, a super badass villain was introduced in the form of The Gravedigger, who abducted people, buried them alive and then demanded ransom to reveal their location so they could be saved before they die of suffocation. The case hit close to home as The Gravedigger took Brennan and Hodgins and buried them alive. Bones
eventually revisited this storyline in the fourth season in which the Gravedigger was revealed to be Assistant US Attorney Heather Taffet, who kidnapped Booth and left him for dead. And since then, Bones fans have been begging for justice to be served.

Fortunately, series creator Hart Hanson has teased at Comic-Con that season 5 would feature a trial for the Gravedigger and will reveal the contents of the letter Brennan wrote when she thought she was about to die. But since the FOX procedural drama is now prepping for the final stretch of the season, will there still be room for the Gravedigger case?

“We’re exploring that [episode] idea because the Gravedigger, as the fans know, was set free,” executive producer Stephen Nathan tells Zap2it.com. “And we’re thinking there might be an attempt at trying to bring her to justice. To get rid of her once and for all. Whether that will be successful or not, we’re not sure.”

As for the letter, most fans assume it was written to Booth. However, Nathan was very coy on the subject.

“We’re asking Brennan if we can see the letter, but she’s not forthcoming,” he joked. “Brennan won’t tell us anything about it. We keep asking her. We even asked Emily [Deschanel, who plays Brennan] to ask her. We keep begging her for the answer. I don’t know if she’s telling us the truth or not.”

At least, there’s comfort in knowing that the Gravedigger is not a subject producers have forgotten about.
